When Care Becomes a Calling

Chidera’s journey began with a deep sense of injustice.

“I was inspired by a deep sense of health injustice, especially for girls who couldn’t afford sanitary care and faced stigma around menstruation.”

She began to notice how something as natural as menstruation was often surrounded by silence, discomfort, or misinformation.

That awareness sparked a passion, to create spaces where girls and women could feel informed, supported, and seen.

Rethinking Periods; Reclaiming Dignity

She founded “Her Period Slay Care Initiative” to educate, empower, and uplift young girls and women navigating menstrual health challenges. The initiative is driven by a mission to end period poverty and break the stigma around menstruation.

Her work centers on menstrual hygiene education, distribution of reusable sanitary pads, and creating safe, stigma-free spaces where girls can learn about their bodies with confidence.

At the core of the initiative is a vision to equip girls and women with dignity, knowledge, and the confidence to thrive, because no girl or woman should be held back by her period.

Pushing Through Silence and Stigma

One of Chidera’s biggest hurdles is how often period poverty is downplayed.

According to her, “People think just giving girls pads is enough. They don’t realize education, dignity, and long-term support matter just as much.”

Changing mindsets takes time, but she’s committed to challenging taboos and shifting the culture from silence to support.

Equipped and Elevated by the Impact Xcelerator

Joining The Luminary Project’s Impact Xcelerator was more than a learning experience, it was a turning point.

In her words, “The program taught me practical skills, from storytelling and impact reporting to team building and fundraising.”

It helped her bring structure to her passion, and introduced her to a community of people who see and refine each other’s work.

Moments That Matter Most

“Every time a girl says, ‘I didn’t know this before. Thank you for teaching me,’ it reaffirms our mission. That’s a win.” – She said.

For Chidera, every empowered girl is a breakthrough.

She’s proud of the knowledge she’s spreading and the confidence she’s helping girls reclaim.

Her message to fellow changemakers:

“Start with what you have and grow with people who see your fire”.

This quote keeps her grounded. Whether it’s a quiet win or a hard day, it reminds her that there’s purpose in every step.

In moments of doubt, when it feels like the change is too slow or the work too heavy, she reminds herself that purpose can be found in every step, big or small, seen or unseen.

Help Her Rewrite the Narrative for Young Girls and Women

Chidera’s story is a reminder that lasting change begins with care, courage, and community.

If her journey resonates with you, support her work, share her story, partner with her mission.

Let’s build a world where no girl is left behind, period!
