Who is responsible
Luminary Empowerment Foundation — registered in Nigeria (CAC 8178351) and in Georgia, United States (EIN 41-2838812) — is responsible for the personal data described here. Write to hello@luminaryproject.africa with any question about this policy.
What we collect
- Enquiries: your name, organisation, email and the message you send when you book a partnership call or contact us.
- Newsletter: your email address and subscription status, held with our email provider.
- Donations: your name, email, gift amount and date. Card details go directly to Stripe through LegitGood; we never see or store the full card number.
- Luminary submissions: the profile details, project information and photographs you upload, plus the account you signed in with.
- Website use: basic technical and usage information such as pages viewed, device type and approximate location, used to keep the site working.
Why we use it
To answer enquiries and manage partnerships, to process and acknowledge donations and issue receipts, to publish approved Luminary stories and impact reporting, to send the newsletter to people who asked for it, and to meet our legal, tax and audit obligations.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that run the platform for us — our giving platform LegitGood, our payment processor Stripe, our email and hosting providers — and with regulators, auditors or advisers where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Photographs and consent
We publish images of people only where consent has been given. If you appear in a photograph on this site and would like it removed, email us and we will act on it.
How long we keep it
Donation and financial records are kept as long as tax and charity law requires. Enquiries and subscriptions are kept while the relationship is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Published Luminary content stays online until you or we withdraw it.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in every email. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to a particular use. Email hello@luminaryproject.africa and we will respond within 30 days.
Cookies
We use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep the site working and to keep you signed in to admin and submission areas. You can clear or block them in your browser, though signed-in areas will then stop working.
Security and international transfers
Data is held on managed, access-controlled infrastructure and is encrypted in transit. Because we operate in Nigeria and the United States, your data may be processed in either country under appropriate safeguards.
