The Luminary Fellowship
Every year we take fifty changemakers through six weeks of training, and fund the twenty with the strongest plans. It is free for everyone we shortlist.

People already doing the work. You are running a project, a charity or a small social enterprise somewhere in Africa, you are seeing real results, and you are held back by money, systems or both.
You do not need to be registered, well connected or already funded. You need to be doing something that works.
How to get in
Nominations and applications open every November. Someone can put you forward, or you can come to us yourself. Both routes are read the same way.
We shortlist fifty and announce them in February.
What happens
The Impact Accelerator runs for six weeks from March. It is fully online, so you can do it from anywhere with a phone and some data.
Sessions cover:
- Vision and theory of change
- Governance and accountability
- Money and grant management
- Designing and running a programme
- Fundraising and partnerships
- Measuring what you achieve
- Telling your story
- Using LegitGood to run your organisation
At the end you submit a costed funding proposal. The strongest proposals become the Top 20, announced in April and celebrated at the Luminary Awards on 1 May.
What you leave with
Every fellow who finishes earns the Certificate in Social Impact Leadership from the Luminary Impact Institute. Fellows who go on to deliver a funded project become Luminary Advanced Fellows.
You also keep a public profile on LegitGood that grows every time you deliver, and you stay in the alumni network for good.
